The Metropolitan Orlando Urban League (MOUL) was affiliated in 1977 and services Orange, Osceola and Seminole Counties. MOUL is located in Orlando, which is the center of Florida. The Tri-County population serviced by the MOUL is a fast growing 1.7 million persons. The Black population is 15% of this total and is diverse with people from all over the United States, Canada, England, Jamaica, Haiti, Panama, and numerous Caribbean countries. The climate includes a perfect 72?F and the city is served by one of the largest airports in America. The presence of a healthy mix of activities and the absence of state income tax makes Orlando an attractive business opportunity. The area economy is based on tourism, hospitality, aerospace technology, information technology services, construction, government, educational institutions, and health care services.
The Metropolitan Orlando area is the world’s number one tourist destination with such attractions as Walt Disney World, Sea World, Universal Studios, Kennedy Space Center, and Daytona Beach. The Orlando area has four major institutions of higher learning – University of Central Florida, Rollins College, Seminole Community College and Valencia Community College. Approximately 60 miles from the downtown area, is one of the oldest Black Liberal Arts Colleges in the country – Bethune Cookman College in Daytona Beach, Florida.
